About Jersey City Downtown
The downtown area of Jersey City is known as the heart of the city. The region of the city features is an extensive transportation destination. It features access to the Holland Tunnel as well as the Exchange Place PATH train station, which leaves you in lower Manhattan in 25 minutes and 22 minutes, respectively. The downtown area also features the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail which allows residents to travel across Hudson County, New Jersey, from North Bergen to Bayonne.
In terms of entertainment and ease of living, downtown Jersey City features the Powerhouse Arts District as well as the Newport Centre Mall. The Powerhouse Arts District consist of many art studious within the small region between Marin Blvd and Washington St. The area is known for the Powerhouse Building with its recognizable bright yellow sides and its large smoke stacks.
Liberty State Park features 1,212 acres south of downtown Jersey City. Attractions in the park include science museum, the Liberty Science Center, which is home to the largest IMAX dome theater in the world. The park provides easy access to Liberty Island and Ellis Island as well. The park also host outdoor concerts during the summer.
