About Jersey City Heights

The Heights is a neighborbood of Jersey City that was originally it’s own city known as Hudson City, until its merger in 1973 with Jersey City. The region also features many colonial style buildings, such as the Van Vorst House. Built in 1740 it is among the oldest buildings in Jersey City. The high elevation of the region offers amazing views of it’s surrounding areas as well as the beautifiul New York skyline as well. The transportation in the region offers NJ transit buses that can be taken to places from Journal Square to across the river to Manhattan. Locally, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail can be taken to travel from North Bergen to downtown Jersey City and everywhere in between. In terms of retail shops, restaurants, and overall entertainment, Central Avenue is the Height’s main street. It features all kinds of businesses, from old to new.
