Bergen-Lafayette is a region of Jersey City that can, essentially, be labeled as the center of the city. The position of the region allows it to enjoy all aspects of the city within a fairly close distance. This enables residents to visit attractions, such as Liberty State Park, which features fantastic views of New York City and the Statue of Liberty. The area is also home to unique 19th century-style architecture. These Victorian era and Art Deco designed houses can be found all along the area’s Bergen Section. The region is also home to new developments as well, such as the mass restoration of the former Jersey City Medical Center. The Beacon, as it is currently named, is one of many new developments gradually occurring around the region.
